Based on Epona365 Office version 25.1.122 and Epona365 Web 25.9.0, compared with Epona DMSforLegal version 25.4.0.

Updated 23 October 2025

The following features and functions of DMSforLegal are not yet or in different ways implemented in the Epona365 Office & Web Add-ins:

  1. Folder Synchronization (mailbox subfolder synchronization to a folder in a Matter)
  2. Group by Client, by Matter in DMSforLegal, this is not yet available in Epona365 Office
  3. Epona365 Web ability to Open, Reply, Reply-to-All, Forward a message in Web, through Classic Outlook using Schema URI integration
  4. Drag and drop to the datafile (left side tree in Outlook, DMSforLegal)
  5. Filing Toolbar (filing, add matter subscription, go to matter)
  6. PDF software solutions using Epona DMSforLegal installed SDK connections to File Open/Save to the DMS (eg Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Foxit, PowerPDF)
  7. Draftable Document Comparison software using Epona DMSforLegal installed SDK
  8. Litera comparison products called from DMSforLegal folders in Outlook, detecting the presence of comparison products automatically
  9. Word Template products that rely on the Epona DMSforLegal installed SDK to find Matters, to save to a DMS location

# Folder Synchronization

The ability to select a subfolder in the Classic Outlook Inbox and replicate all e-mails in that folder to a folder in the Matter destination in SharePoint. Folders synched between Outlook and SharePoint are visible with "Epona" behind the folder name. New items placed in this folder are automatically copied to the SharePoint destination and when this is done the e-mail is Marked as Filed in the Category field. The ability to ignore iManage filing information (if the email was already placed in iManage and migrated already) is available. There is also a DMS Configuration setting available to avoid filing Calendar invites, as they would trigger user interactions. You can select a single folder with emails to be one way synched to a destination in SharePoint or a recursive set of folder and subfolders with content.

Update: 23 Oct 2025 this feature is on the Q1 2026 roadmap of Epona365 Office 26.1

# Group by Client

In DMSforLegal the My Matter view can be Grouped by Client or by other fields from the Matters-list. Grouping can only be done on a single field and Group by client is the Default setting. Epona 365 Office filing does not offer this feature. Epona 365 Web has a Clients view from which the Matters of a Client are presented

Update: 23 Oct 2025 Development of this feature in Epona365 Office will start in November 2025. The Subscripted Users will also be moved to the My Matters part of the Outlook Epona635 Office Filing Panel

# Open, Reply, Reply-to-All, Forward using Classic Outlook and DMSforLegal

Epona365 Web can be configured to use Epona DMSforLegal in conjunction with Classic Outlook to Open, Reply, Reply-to-All or Forward a single selected e-mail message. This feature needs to be switched on by the user in Epona365 Web user preferences.

# Open, Reply, Reply-to-All, Forward using Outlook Web Access

Epona365 Web can be configured to use Outlook Web Access to Open, Reply, Reply-to-All or Forward a single selected e-mail message. This feature can also be used by Apple Mac users. At this momente (23 Oct 2025) we cannot open native Outlook on the Mac or New Outlook on Mac or Windows.

# DMSforLegal SDK for File Open, Save integrations

Third party integrations such as Documentaal dStyle, Epona LegalWord, Foxit, PowerPDF, or the Epona developed Adobe Acrobat & Reader Plugin rely on the Epona DMSforLegal SDK which is deployed when DMSforLegal is installed, configured and active and the Windows workstation is using Classic Outlook. Epona365 Office supports a Web based SDK for webapplication such as SAGA, LegalMike, LexGen, Legora and LegalWord365 to use as an alternative. It will take a number of months before these integrations are available in production.
