The Epona Matter Site Provisioning is a Windows service running on a Windows Server or in case of designing configurations on a Windows workstation.
At this moment .Net Framework 4.8 needs to be installed on the Operating System, please check the Support Dates of .Net Frameworks on this page https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/microsoft-net-framework (opens new window)
Windows Operating Systems supported:
- Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, no longer supported
- Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, no longer supported
- Windows Server 2016, no longer supported
- Windows Server 2019, no longer supported
- Windows Server 2022, supported untill 13 Oct 2026
- Windows Server 2025, supported untill 9 October 2029
Disk space requirements: The Epona Matter Site Provisioning windows service requires 80MB disk space for the program files. The service uses a \Monitor folder for *.JSON job files and a \Log folder for the logs. The location of these folders can be changed in Epona.Configurator.exe. Log files and Monitor Job files can be configured to automatically rotate or flush after a number of days ensuring no unnecessary data is left on the server.
Hardware requirements are minimal. A Server with 2 Cores and 8 MB RAM is enough. The Epona.ProvisioningService.exe will consume minimal memory and the CPU load is very low. The Epona Matter Site Provisioning distribution also contains the Epona.Migrator.exe application which could consume a lot of memory and CPU when configured to run in multiple threads to support fast migrations. It is advisable to use a seperate migration server in case of a large migration (>100GB)
Azure Virtual Server requirements: As pricing of Azure servers vary based on region, savings plans and reserved plane, it is difficult to suggest the right server. The current Azure Windows Server B2s v2 is a server with 2 vCPUs and 8GiB RAM which would be able to run the Site Provisioning task
